BALTIMORE, MD, UNITED STATES, May 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Summit Responsible Solutions®, makers of Mosquito Bits®, Mosquito Dunks®, and a full line of insect control products, has just received an OMRI listing for Mosquito Bits® and Summit® Bti Granules. The designation confirms both products meet USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standards, independently verified by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI).
OMRI listing is a meaningful benchmark. According to OMRI, on average, 10–15% of applications do not complete the review process, and the USDA conducts annual assessments to ensure OMRI’s continued conformance with established criteria. Products containing prohibited substances — including glyphosate, synthetic nitrates, arsenic, and rotenone — cannot receive listing.
Neither Mosquito Bits® nor Summit® Bti Granules contain any prohibited substance.
What Are These Products?
Both products use Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israeliensis (Bti), a naturally occurring soil bacterium that kills mosquito larvae – with no effect on plants, fish, frogs, turtles, beneficial insects, or people.
Summit® Bti Granules are commercially available for vector control and professional users. When spread over standing water, the granules release Bti at the surface, where it settles and is ingested by mosquito larvae. They deliver a fast kill within 24 hours and can provide control for up to 14 days in water of low to moderate organic content. Often applied by aerial application, vector abatement programs rely on Bti Granules across many mosquito breeding habitats including salt marshes, estuaries, swamps and any large areas of standing water.
Mosquito Bits® are the consumer version of Summit® Bti granules. When sprinkled over standing water, they start killing mosquito larvae within minutes. Bits® are labeled for use in animal watering troughs, birdbaths, ponds, swampy areas – any standing water! Bits® are also effective against fungus gnat larvae in potting soil, making them a dual-purpose solution for homeowners and growers alike.
